Love has a Battery

Day 3 – Wellness Wednesday

Scripture:
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." —Galatians 6:9

Devotional Thought

We often picture love as endless, unstoppable, unconditional—and in the spiritual sense, it is. God’s love never runs out. But your capacity to express that love? That has limits.

Because love has a battery.

You are a vessel of God’s love, but you’re also a human being with a nervous system, muscles, hormones, and energy levels. And when your battery is drained—by stress, by lack of rest, by poor nutrition or overcommitment—your love gets quieter. Your patience gets shorter. Your empathy fades.

This isn’t a spiritual failure. It’s a physical warning.

Even Jesus, the embodiment of perfect love, withdrew to rest. He paused to pray. He slept through storms. He knew: love requires energy. Love costs something. And that’s why your wellness matters.

You don’t just need to be full of love—you need to be charged enough to deliver it.

Today, ask yourself not just how you’re loving, but how you’re living. Are you getting enough sleep to listen well? Are you eating food that helps or hinders your mood? Are you moving your body in ways that stir gratitude instead of guilt?

You can’t give your best to the people God placed in your life if you are constantly running on fumes.

Today, don’t just protect your schedule—protect your strength.

Because when you care for your body, you’re not stepping away from your calling— you’re making sure you’re strong enough to carry it.

Our prayer today,

Father God,

Thank You for calling me to love deeply, to give generously, and to serve faithfully. But today I confess there are times I get tired.

Not because I don’t want to love, but because I haven’t always slowed down long enough to be filled.

Forgive me for neglecting the body You gave me—the vessel You chose to carry Your love.

Help me to rest without guilt.  To move with intention. To nourish myself as an act of worship,

Teach me that saying “yes” to wellness is not saying “no” to my calling—it’s saying “yes” to being able to sustain it.

Today, I return to You, not as a machine but as a temple.
I ask you to fill me again. Charge me again. Not just for today, but for the long haul.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
