Empty Cups

Day 2 – Temple Maintenance Tuesday

Theme: Empty Cups

Scripture:
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies." —1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV)

Devotional Thought

There’s a sacred stillness in this truth: Your body is not your own. It was bought, redeemed, and repurposed—no longer just a frame of flesh, but a dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.

Yet many of us treat our bodies like borrowed tools—used until they're worn down, ignored until they scream in exhaustion.

We hustle in the name of work.  Push through in the name of productivity.  And crash in the name of sacrifice.

But here’s the reality: You can’t pour if you’re empty. You can’t carry the presence of God to others if your temple is constantly breaking down. Temple maintenance isn’t about image—it’s about impact.  God wants to fill you, not just spiritually, but physically—so that you can sustain the calling on your life.

When your body is nourished, your spirit has more room to respond.  When you’re rested, you hear Him more clearly. When you’re strong, you move more freely into the places He’s sending you.

God didn’t call you to crawl through your calling. He called you to walk with confidence. To serve with stamina. To show up with presence and power.

Your body is not an afterthought—it’s an asset.  It’s not separate from your spiritual life—it supports it. And it’s not about perfection—it’s about preparation.

So today, slow down—not in purpose, but in posture. Tend to your temple not out of guilt, but out of gratitude. This body carries His presence. And it deserves care, not because it’s perfect—but because He paid a price for it.

So take care of it. Fuel it. Move it. Rest it. And offer it.  Not just to get more out of it—but so God can get more through it.

Reflection Question

What part of your physical well-being have you neglected in the name of service or busyness—and how can you offer that area back to God today?

Movement Options

Mobility-Friendly Option: Sacred Stretch Flow (5 to 7 Minutes)

  • Neck Rolls and Shoulder Rolls: Loosen tension (1 minute)

  • Seated Arm Reaches with Breathing: Raise and lower arms with deep inhales and exhales (2 minutes)

  • Ankle and Wrist Circles: Gentle range of motion (2 minutes)

  • Prayerful Pause: Sit still and reflect on your breath—God’s breath in you

Every breath is borrowed. Every move is mercy.

Active Option: Body Renewal Routine (10 to 15 Minutes)

  • Gentle Yoga or Stretch Sequence: Focus on hips, hamstrings, and back (7 minutes)

  • Light Bodyweight Exercises: Wall push-ups, squats, or lunges (3 to 5 minutes)

  • Walk Outdoors or Indoors: Reflect and pray as you move (5 minutes)

This is not about burning calories. It’s about building capacity.

Nutrition Focus: Restorative Fuel

  • Replenish Your Body: Choose a warm, whole meal today—such as soup, grilled vegetables, or oatmeal with fruit. Focus on comfort and nourishment.

  • Reduce Stimulants: Cut back on sugar and caffeine today. Let your energy come from God, not just quick fixes.

  • Evening Detox: Herbal tea or infused water to wind down your system before rest.

Fueling your body wisely is a form of worship—because God is in the details.
