The School of Champions

What is School of Champions

You were born to be a champion. Give us 5 years of your life, and we’ll give you the lifestyle of a Champion in four key areas: (1) living your potential; (2) health in your body; (3) healthy relationships and (4) financial security. The School of Champions will help you think like a champion, develop the skills of a champion and have the resources of a champion.

If you want to see real transformation in your life, rise up to the challenge and join us for School of Champions, every Wednesday night, at 7:00 p.m.

Current Course

Wednesdays, Aug 25 - Sept 29, 7:00 p.m.

WORSHIP
Have you ever thought worship is less important than believing the right things about God? Or that it consists primarily of singing a few songs before the sermon every Sunday. You may be surprised to learn that God’s view of worship is quite different. God is not just looking for believers or a bit of music. He’s after full-fledged worshipers. This class will focus on twelve convictions of true worshipers, helping you gain an understanding of what true worship is all about.

FAQ

Q: / What happens if I miss a class? Can I still get my passport stamped?

A: / If you must miss one of the class sessions, you can get the CD from Hidden Treasures, listen to it, and then give your instructor a one-page (typed) summary and reflection on the lesson. The summary should be about one paragraph, and the reflection is a statement of what you got out of the class, how it impacted you, if there is something new that caught your attention, how you can apply it in your life etc. Then you can get credit for the missed class and get the stamp on your passport. If you miss more than 2 classes in a given course, it would be to your advantage to take the course when it is offered again in the future.

Q: / For work reasons I'm not able to participate in the SoC at this time. What can I do about it?

A: / You can get the book and the CDs, and still benefit from the information. However, most of the transformation of the School of Champions comes by way of the interaction in the class. All of the SoC classes will be offered on a rotational basis, so the current class will be offered again at some point in the future. So, if you will not be able to participate in at least 4 of the classes for a given course, it will be to your advantage to take the course the next time it is offered.

Q: / Am I supposed to set a different transformational goal each week?

A: / No. You will work on the same transformational goal for the 6 weeks of each course. It takes time to create a good habit, and transformation is not an overnight-process, so you may even want to keep the same transformational goal for 2 or 3 courses.

Q: / Can I set more than one transformational goal?

A: / Yes, you can. However, you may find that when you start working on a transformational goal, you will experience some resistance. This is normal. So, it is best that you set one goal at a time. This way you are more likely to see and celebrate the success of transformation in your life.

Q: / I find that I am struggling in the area of my transformational goal. It seems worse than before. Is this normal?

A: / Yes, it is normal, for two reasons. First, because it is something you are actively working on, you are more aware of the situation that you are trying to change, so it will appear to be intensified. Secondly, whenever we take steps forward in our walk with Christ, there will be some resistance. Remember we are in a war -- but we have the victory! Don't get discouraged. Press on!

Q: / I'm really struggling with my transformational goal. What can I do?

A: / The most important thing you can remember about transformation, is that you will not be able to change on your own. Real transformation is the result of the work of Holy Spirit in our lives. So, a first step is to recognize your limitations, and ask for Holy Spirit to help you. You will be amazed at the difference He makes!

Q:/ I'm not sure my transformational goal is specific enough. Can you give me some examples?

A:/ Transformational goals should be specific, measurable, realistic and timed. Here are some examples of some non-specific and specific goals:
Non-specific goals:
- Be a better Christian,
- Be a better husband/wife/employer/parent
Specific goals:
- Wake up 15 minutes earlier each morning and use that time to pray in the Spirit
- Read a chapter of the Bible each morning before I go to work
- Spend 5 minutes of my prayer time in silence so I can hear from God
- Keep a journal where I record what I'm learning and hearing from God, writing in it at least 4 days each week
- Limit the amount of time I spend watching TV to 1 hour per day to have more time to spend with my family/in prayer/reading my Bible, etc.
- Turn my car radio off and spend the time I'm in my car praying in the Spirit
- Make a list of things I appreciate about my spouse/child/employee and express my appreciation daily
- Help my wife with a household chore (if you can define it, that's better) each week
